The LGBTQIA+ Walk Series is back! But this spring, we’re going to shake things up just a bit.
Each month, Queerly ME and Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust will be hosting a casual, outdoor meet-up at 1:00pm on the first Sunday of the month from March-May at a BTLT property. After each walk, we’ll be gathering at Wild Oats around 2:15pm to hold more space and time for connecting and socializing. As an added bonus, our friends at Wild Oats have generously given us coupons for attendees to use after our walks to be used on a drink or snack of their choice!
No guided tour, no cost, no registration required. Just an open invitation for Queer/LGBTQIA+ folks (and allies) of all ages and backgrounds, to gather in a natural safe space, connect with one another, and spend time outside! (And then at Wild Oats afterwards!)
March 19th – 1:00pm – Crystal Spring Farm (South) – Farmers’ Market parking lot
April 2nd – 1:00pm – Crystal Spring Farm (North) – Community Garden parking lot
May 7th – 1:00pm – Woodward Point
Keep in mind:
Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early! We will be leaving for our walk from the trailhead at 1:05pm to maximize our walk time.
We highly encourage carpooling!
There is no registration, you can just show up.
Bringing a dog? Please make sure they are leashed at all times and that you clean up after them.
Bringing some kiddos? Please make sure they (and you!) are dressed for the weather and terrain.
Queerly ME focuses on creating spaces online and offline where the acknowledgement, acceptance, and support of Queer identity and Queer people is explicit and intentional. Queerness creates space for individuals to grow into their unique identity and sense of self within the LGBTQ+ community without the need to adhere to a more binary label which may not be as accurate to who one is. Queerness for many emphasizes the fluidity of gender identity and sexuality.
All properties, events, and programs managed by BTLT are of course open to everyone. However, as part of BTLT’s mission to connect people to nature by providing recreational opportunities, we acknowledge that the outdoors have historically not been a safe space for the Queer and LGBTQIA+ community. In close partnership with Queerly ME, this event series aims to provide intergenerational safe spaces for connection, community building, and outdoor exploration amongst the Queer and LGBTQIA+ community. The intention of this space is to acknowledge Queerness and create a safe space to exist as Queer – anyone who supports Queerness as allies or LGBTQIA+ is also welcome.
